You can view the overall settings of the capacity monitoring application.
Data Refresh: You can select a method to refresh the information about the resources. You can perform a manual data refresh by refreshing the current page manually or you can refresh the data automatically after every five minutes. You must click on the Refresh button if you are doing a manual refresh.
Partition Core Usage %: You can set the partition core usage based on the entitled cores or the virtual processors. This information is displayed in partition tables on the Inventory and Performance panel and it is used in setting the partition thresholds. For dedicated processor partition, Core Usage is always computed using the entitled capacity.
Thresholds
You can define the threshold limit for any resources such as system, partition, or Virtual I/O Server (VIOS)
You can activate or deactivate a threshold limit for any resources. You can add or remove user-defined threshold value for any resources. However, you cannot remove the default threshold value.
Click Add to specify a new threshold limit for any resources and click Remove to delete the user-defined threshold values. To set the threshold limit for a set of resources, you can either select the option Any from the resources list, thereby the threshold value is applied to all systems. You can also set the threshold limit to a set of resources by selecting the systems or by using the search field to filter the resources in the list. You can set the threshold based on the taged resources also.
For each resource type, you can define one or more thresholds values.
Alert Preferences : Click on the link to set the alert preferences of the app. One enabling the In-App Notification you will get the alerts on the app when the resources crosses the specified threshold limits. This will be shown with the sliding message on the right corner of the app. Also, if there are unread alert messages, it will be indicated by a red dot on a Bell Icon at the right corner of the app. Provide email and phone number to get the notifications through email and SMS. After entering the information, you can perform test email and SMS to confirm the receipt of the message. On the notification slider, you can view the message specific to app in which you currently are, or view the messages from other apps also.
System Thresholds:
To set the system threshold limit for any managed system, select the systems from the list or a tag for which the threshold limit must apply and select the percentage of core usage for the number of activated cores and specify the maximum time duration for core usage as a number of consecutive minutes, so that when the managed system reaches the specified limit, a threshold breach is displayed in the performance view.
You can also set the system threshold limit for any managed system by selecting the list of systems for which the threshold limit must apply and by specifying the percentage of memory allocation that is done for the activated memory.
When a threshold value is set and activated and when the resources reaches the threshold limit, you can view alerts in the Performance -> Systems page in the systems inventory table in the form of a red dot. The red dot indicates an error for a specific resource. If the core usage threshold limit for a managed system is met, the CURRENT CORE usage field appears with a red background in the Systems Detail page.
Partition or VIOS Thresholds:
To set the threshold limit for any partition, select the partitions or a tag from the list for which the threshold limit must apply and select the percentage of core usage for the number of entitled cores and specify the maximum time duration for core usage as a number of consecutive minutes, so that when the partition reaches the specified limit, a threshold breach is displayed in the performance view.
You can also group resources in the table by assigning the resources to predefined tag groups by selecting the resources that you want to assign to a tag. You can use the tags to select the threshold value for a resource.
Shared Processor Pool Thresholds:
To set the threshold limit for Shared Processor Pool(SPP), select the SPPs from the list for which the threshold limit must apply and select the percentage of core usage for max cores of the pool and specify the maximum time duration for core usage as a number of consecutive minutes, so that when the pool reaches the specified limit, a threshold breach is displayed in the performance view.
