Capacity Monitoring : Performance of all systems

You can view the current resource consumption for all the systems managed by the Hardware Management Console (HMC) in the Resources Summary pane of the performance view.

You can view the summary of the core usage and memory allocation for all the systems that are managed by the HMC in the Cores and Memory pane.

The Cores pane provides information about the total number of cores or processors that are activated for a managed system, total number of cores or processors that are allocated for a managed system, total number of cores or processors that are installed, total number of cores or processors that are inactive and not available for use by a managed system, and the total number of cores or processors that are available for the managed system to use.

The Memory pane provides information about the total amount of memory that is activated, total amount of memory that is allocated, total available memory, total memory that is installed in a system, and the total memory that is inactive and not available for use by a managed system.

The table in the Resources Summary pane displays the performance state of all the managed systems that are available in the data center of your environment.

On the left side of the window, you can use the filters to sort the system information by selecting the following system metrics:

• System MTM
• Core Usage
• Memory Allocation

You can filter the system information by selecting the absolute value of the core usage or memory usage. Otherwise, you can filter the system information based on the percentage of cores or memory that is activated in the managed system.

To view the performance details of the specific managed system, click on the system name in the SYSTEM NAME column of the systems inventory table.

You can also search for a managed system by entering the search string in the Search field. When you type in the Search field, a list of recently used search string is displayed. You can select the required string from the list or enter a new string that you want to search.

You can search and retrieve the following information about the managed system:

• state of the managed system
• name of the managed system
• number of partitions that are associated with the managed system
• percentage of the cores that are activated in the managed system
• number of available cores in the managed system
• percentage of the memory that is activated in the managed system
• available memory in the managed system
• name and version of the HMC that is associated with the managed system

The Resources Summary pane is updated to reflect the data present in the systems inventory table.

To group the resources in the systems inventory table by assigning the resources to the predefined tag groups, select the resources that you want to assign to a tag and click Add a Tag, and then select a tag from a list of tags that is displayed, and click Apply. To view all the resources that are assigned to a tag, enter the tag name in the Search field. The systems inventory table displays all the resources that are grouped under the tag based on the search result. To export the managed system data to the local drive in the form of a worksheet, click Export CSV. If you have filtered the managed system data or performed a search for specific information, you can export only the filtered results or the search results by clicking on the Export CSV button.
