You can get a comprehensive view of your inventory with information about the current patch state of the resources in your environment.
Multiple filters are available for you to customize your view. You can filter your inventory as per the update status, type, description, current level, and location.
The End of Support, Updates Available, and Upgrade Available filters are applied by default.
You can set multiple filters by using the Update Status filter.
To see all the resources in your environment including the operating systems, firmware, Virtual I/O Servers, Adapters and Hardware Management Consoles, select All.
To see the resources in your environment that are no longer supported, select End of Support.
To see the resources for which updates are available, select Updates Available. To download and install the update from the IBM Fix Central website, click the version number that is mentioned in the Latest Update or the Recommended Update columns.
To see the resources for which updates are available, select Upgrades Available. To download the upgrade from the IBM Fix Central website, click the version number that is mentioned in the Latest Upgrade or the Recommended Upgrade columns.
To see the resources for which information is either unavailable with or unsupported by the IBM Fix Level Recommendation Tool (FLRT) , select Not Found.
To see the resources that are running at the recommended versions, select Up-to-Date.
Important information is highlighted by using colors and icons:
The End of Support date is displayed in red color when it is older than the current date and hence is no longer supported.
If the current level of the resource is no longer supported, a red flag is shown next to the current level of the resource.
If the system model or firmware is unsupported for the HMC or OS version, a warning icon is shown next to the system. To see the details in the tooltip, hover the mouse over the icon.
The column that is listed next to the Latest Upgrade column contains two sub-columns – Recommended Upgrade and Recommended Update. Use the icon to select either column.
Select the filter values that you want to use to display the results that match the filter criteria. You can also search by specifying keywords in the Search field. The table displays all resources that match your search criteria.
Note: Information about the latest release, update, upgrade, and recommendations for resources, such as LPAR, HMC, firmware, and so on, are dependent on IBM Fix Level Recommendation Tool(FLRT). FLRT provides only the latest release details for the IBM i OS type. Hence other details, such as EoS, recommendations, update and upgrade information are unavailable for the IBM i OS type in the Patch Planning app.
Export CSV: To export the patch planning inventory information for specific search criteria in CSV format, click Export CSV.
Add to Plan: To group the resources so that they can be viewed or shared together, click Add to Plan.
Select the check box corresponding to a resource and click the Add to plan button.
Select an existing plan or create a new plan.
The resource is added to the plan. You can see an icon displayed next to the resource name in the Plan column, indicating that the resource is added to a Plan.
Add a tag: You can list similar resources together by tagging them. You can either add an existing tag or create a new one.
Note: You cannot tag Adapters.
