Note: This update reflects a change in the effective date of the migration and provides additional information.
The Cloud Management Console V1.18.0 release will be available mid-November 2022. This release will include the migration from the IBM Cloud Foundry to the IBM Code Engine app. Because of this migration, your CMC URL will change.
What do you need to change?
- You must change your firewall settings to allow access to the FQDN of the new CMC URL shown on the Settings -> Cloud Connector -> Firewall configuration page. No other firewall setting changes are required.
- You must use the new CMC URL to connect to CMC.
- You must restart Cloud Connector with the new key on all of your HMCs.
When must you make this change?
- It is recommended that you securely save the current Cloud Connector start command shown on the Settings -> Cloud Connector -> Cloud Connector Startup Command page before 15 November 2022.
- Prior to 31 March 2023, no other immediate action is required.
- After V1.18.0 is deployed, you can use either your saved Cloud Connector start command or the new start command. Only the new Cloud Connector start command will be displayed in CMC.
- The end date for the use of the current CMC URL and the current Cloud Connector start command is 31 March 2023.
- If you decide to use the new Cloud Connector start command before 31 March 2023, you must change your firewall settings to allow access to the FQDN of the new CMC URL shown on the Settings -> Cloud Connector -> Firewall configuration page.
If you use the IP address of the new CMC URL instead of the FQDN, the IP address will change sometime in January 2023. You will need to update your firewall settings at that time for the new IP address. The FQDN of the new CMC URL will not change.
Where do you get the new URL?
With CMC v1.18.0, the new CMC URL is prominently displayed in a migration notice when you log in to your old CMC URL.
You can also derive the new CMC URL from the old CMC URL. For example, if your customer prefix is XYZ and the old URL has the form https://XYZ-powercloud.mybluemix.net or https://XYZ-powercloud.<region>.mybluemix.net, then the new CMC URL will be https://XYZ.powercmc.com.
What happens if you don't make this change?
- Your HMCs will not be able to connect to CMC.
- You will not be able to access CMC using the old CMC URL.
- Power Enterprise Pool 2.0 CoD codes will not be able to be renewed. If the CoD code for a system expires, the system will be immediately throttled back to the base cores purchased for that system.
